Will I get the same read and write speeds if I connects via type c to type a cable to my pc?

Can I run Mac OS Catalina from the T7? I need to to speed up my late 2015 iMac and I don’t want to install an internal ssd. Thanks!

Hello, my name is Siraj, and I am a computer engineer. I bought SSD 1TB T5. I want a way to make the HDD protected. Do not erase or add a file except to my own computers. Thank you.

If issue on Mac "No Samsung Portable SSD is connected"

Open "Security & Privacy" in the "System Preferences" menu and click the "Allow" button next to the message ”System software from developer "Samsung Electronics" was blocked from loading”.

From Samsung TS page.  Worked for me.

My t7 still says disconnected when I plug it in to set up the fingerprint. How is this possible?

They should now build a similar style external drive with NVME.2 technology .. 2500 plus read / write speed and call it a day.

    That's a really good product.
I always was worried about loosing my ssd and leaking my data. Had happned to me in pasts twice!
I guess, this is what I need, Thanks Samsung.

Imagine if the hard drive was fine but the fingerprint scanner on there became damaged or stopped working

Missing details of the slowdown reasons of the drives. They have what's called an "SLC Cache" which has a limited amount of GB's it can write at full speed and then it slows down. Of course heat definitely contributes to throtling just as you said as well.

I'd like more control over the encryption (like Veracrypt offers). I see a potential security flaw in the multi- person fingerprint ability; fingerprint data exfiltration could be a serious attack vector.

Could someone clarify the security/encryption standards?

I have this baby in mind for the PS5 but I will go for the STD over the Touch. Thanks great review.

Hi Jeff, thank you for your review, could you please confirm if I can use it as time machine on my mac mini when I switch on the security with the finger print ? and if yes can I make a partitions like if I will buy the 1 TB can I make half of it as time machine and the ret space for normal storage Or shall I go with a normal ssd ?

I'll go for a regular WD external hard drive with much less $ per GB. Can be password protected and lasts for years and years.

It happens to someone else that without the software, the writing speed performance is very bad, it is too slow, but when installing the software, the performance improves, that's a problem.

5:23 "Read only"! If so, then security is useless. Info is visible, can be read of screen…
6:30 Dont show a benchmarks! Show a real read/write speed, plz

Can you use this as a drive to boot macOS on an iMac from an use the the finger print to login etc?

Quick question, how long can the data survive without getting corrupted? Like if you want to use it for say 10 years? Worth it?

what way around solution would you recommend for older thunderbolt 2 macs to use such NVME's external Drives?

I've been thinking of buying the T7 for downloading my games since I'm running out of space but is it good for gaming or should I look for another type of external ssd?
